Blocked (Gold Hockey Novels) (Volume 1) - Elise Faber

Elise Faber has struck again! I read this book in one sitting! And then I immediately read it over again. If that's not a testament to how astonishing Blocked is, then I don't know what is. Not only is this one awesome sports book but its got the sultry romance, deceptive scandal, and one amazing plot turn after the other.

What I loved most about Brit was that she defied the odds. She entered a mans world, balls, or in this case, pucks, to the wall! She doesn't show her fear to her teammates and her first day on the job only proves how driven and determined she is to show how serious she is in a male driven sport. But don't let her tough girl, spirited self fool you. When Stefan enters the picture, gone is the tomboy macho girl, and instead we get a glimpse of the vulnerable, feminine Brit who turns into a gooey welcomed mess! Between falling for Stefan, living through a scary past, and fighting for the future of her career, Brit is one hell of a woman!

Stefan has a lot of catching up to do with his team. As captain, he's determined to turn the Gold's losing streak, and their tarnished reputations, around. Add to the fact that he's the sole caretaker for his ill, but spunky and charismatic, mother (a storyline that will no doubt tug at your heart strings!),his plate is full. His ability and drive to make this a winning season is in jeopardy though.

Together, their fast forming friendship turns into a slow, achingly lustful romance that burns the sheets through and through. This was by far one of the best build-ups I've read in a very long time and the moment they finally come together, you can't help but cheer. But their romance is tested right from the start and until Brit can tell the truth to Stefan, they will never be truly together.

One of the things that I loved most about this book is Elise made you not only fall for Brit and Stefan, but she made you open your heart to Blane, Mandy, and Dan. Add in the comedic aspects (I flipped my lid over the Star Wars and SNL references), the devious and malicious acts of Susan, Jessica and Mike and this book has what it takes to be a sure fire hit!

Frost: A Rendezvous Collection - Elise Faber, K.D. Wood, C. C. Ravanera, Kelly Martin

***this review focuses on Fire and Ice by Elise Faber***

Once again Elise Faber knocks it out of the park! Fire and Ice finally tells us the story of Stephanie and Dom, characters from the Phoenix/LexTal stories that Elise so beautifully told.

I love reading about characters that share a past. It's troubled and complicated. Strained at best. They've both built up a heavy guard around their hearts. But it's that struggle that I love seeing two characters, who are meant to be together, work through for a chance at anything and everything- happiness, peace, and love.

But their journey is not an easy one. Finding twists and turns wherever they look, the two must not only try to mend what was, but survive at everything life throws at them in the process.

I love reading Elise's stories and I can't wait to see what's next for her characters! This collection is definitely a must read!

Now I'm off to read the rest of the stories by some amazing authors :)

Dark Phoenix (Phoenix Series) (Volume 2) - Elise Faber

I dove straight into this book as soon as I finished the first. This series so far has been nothing short of an addiction and the next fix can't come soon enough!

This book starts off with a bang and ends with an explosion! From the beginning, things between Daughtry and Cody are unstable, strained, and dangerous starting with the return of the real Caroline. And things only plummet for the two bondmates, and soon, the rest of Daughtry's friends follow suit.

But unbeknownst to Daughtry, the threat of the Dalshie is even more treacherous as she learns who is truly behind their attacks. And after choosing to leave the compound, she starts a journey that will either make or break her relationships with those she's become close to.

Can she and Cody repair the damage that threatens to rip apart their bond for good? Will the friendships she's forged prove to be strong enough to survive the deception? And can Daughtry power through to save her friends and family with the Dalshie still hunting her down?

Whatever you do, make sure you read this and Phoenix Rising. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite fantasy/sci-fi series ever, and Elise Faber is certainly making her way to my top favorites!

amazing book!!!

Phoenix Rising - Elise Faber

Omg, I don't know if I've got the right words to express just how much I loved this book. The storyline, the characters, the writing, are all brilliantly conveyed in an outstanding story! I've had a rough go of reading anything otherworldly lately, but this book has certainly put my faith back into the fantasy/sci-fi/paranormal world!

Daughtry is such a sassy determined young woman for having such a terrible year. She got dumped by her fiancée, lost her job, and she just got evicted. Oh and did I mention that for the last year, anytime she touches someone, she sees their death and only makes it worse when trying to intervene? Yeah!

But when an old friend, John, comes to town, Cody, our hero of the story, and trouble follow. Fighting off the Dalshie, the super creepy and evil bad guys, they make their way to the colony. There Daughtry learns that not only is she Rengalla, the name of the magical being that she is, but she's an Oracle! And a highly favored and sought after one!

With the help of Cody, Daughtry must learn how to control her visions, protect herself from the Dalshie and the darkness that threatens to overtake her, and learn to give in to the magical power of love that binds her with her soulmate. Because this book has one amazingly, deep, and powerful love story that pulled me in hard! In fact it's when Daughtry thinks these words when she finally realizes what she truly means to Cody and their bond:

It hit her. She, not some perfect plastic-Barbie-doll version of herself, had caused him to feel that way. He wanted her as she was.

This book is not one to pass up. Please read it! You will love it! I'm off to start the second book, because I crave more Daughtry, Cody, and Elise Faber!
